Director of Human Resources

Your Role

The Director of Human Resources leads a functional department including an Office Manager, Internal Recruiter and Receptionist, providing technical expertise and assigning resources, as needed, to the General Manager, Business Unit and Department Directors, and Executive Assistants. As Director of Human Resources for DOM, you will play a key role in fulfilling our mission to attract, develop and excite great people, as we grow from 50 to 150 employees over the next two years.

Team Fit

The Director of Human Resources will lead 3-5 direct reports initially, and will be tasked with building the Human Resource department as needed.

In this role, you will collaborate with, and advise the management team, including the General Manager, Business Unit and Department Directors, and Executive Assistants.

The Director of Human Resources reports directly to the General Manager of DOM.

Responsibilities

  • Set and execute company-wide HR strategy, goals and vision, including:
    • Recruitment and selection
    • On-Boarding
    • Training and development
    • Performance management
    • Compensation
    • Retention and succession planning
    • Communication
    • Organizational development
  • Advise the management team on HR issues as needed
  • Act as a key driver and proponent of DOM core values, HR processes and guidelines
  • Ensure proper documentation and acceptance of HR knowledge, policies & processes
  • Recommend and implement process improvements as needed
  • Create infrastructure and policy as needed
  • Collaborate with international parent and sister companies to share resources, align practices and realize potential efficiencies
  • Develop DOM leadership and coaching skills
  • Full staff and HR Department responsibility, including:
    • Hiring
    • Department organization
    • Setting salaries/bonuses
    • Employee performance and development
    • Approving vacations

Professional Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Human Resources
  • Minimum 3 years generalist experience
  • Minimum 2 years in a strategic HR capacity
  • Minimim 2 years management experience
  • Experience in rapid and substantial organizational growth
  • Experience in an internet or online business an asset
  • Experience in an international organization is an asset

Formal Requirements

  • University degree or diploma in Human Resources Management (or related)
  • Masters degree in Business Administration, HR, Coaching, Leadership (or related) is an asset
  • CHRP Designation is an asset
  • HRMA membership is an asset
