Business Unit Director

Your Role

DOM provides its clients with a wide variety of services, including marketing (SEO, affiliate program, PPC, etc), website and software development and design, conversion, content creation, account management, business intelligence, strategy and budgeting.

The Business Unit Director's role is to lead these processes and ultimately maximize our clients' profit.

In this role, you will manage DOM's largest client's products, a group of industry-leading, international online poker portals. You will be charged with keeping our client's sites at the top of their class.

Team Fit

The Business Unit Director will have 2-3 direct reports, supporting project management and business development, along with shared in-house resources for design, development, conversion, copywriting, SEO, etc.

In this role, you will report directly to the General Manager of DOM.

Responsibilities

  • Profit & loss responsibility
  • Maximize profit for our client
  • Vision and strategy for business unit
  • Oversee marketing initiatives and manage key projects
  • Identify business opportunities
  • World class product for users compared to competition
  • Create business cases, including ROI analyses, and pitch business plans for assigned Business Unit
  • Allocate resources to the business and prioritize multiple projects
  • Acquire and lead dedicated resources and specify need for shared resources.
  • Sharing of knowledge and best practices between Business Unit Directors
  • In some cases, full staff responsibility, including:
    • Hiring
    • Department organization
    • Setting salaries/bonuses
    • Employee performance and development

Initial responsibilities you will later acquire resources for

  • Ongoing market and competitive analyses, including SWOT of major competitors
  • Based on business cases plan aggressive marketing activities to drive the business
  • Quality assurance: ensuring a user-friendly, interactive, and great look and feel on site
  • Drive continuous product and process improvement
  • Account management

You will work closely and collaborate with

  • SEO, web analytics and site management teams to develop road maps and set priorities for website traffic volume, conversions and quality
  • IT team to ensure the platform supports the business needs and minimizes concept-to-production turnaround time
  • Editors to ensure high quality and demanded content that also helps driving revenue
  • Account managers to maximize value per lead

Professional Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of online marketing experience (preferably entrepreneurial)
  • Minimum 2 years project management experience with staff responsibility
  • Minimum 2 years of profit and loss responsibility
  • Excellent understanding of what goes into operating a commercial website such as web analytics, online marketing, content management, copywriting, development, visual design, IT and QA
  • Proven project management and performance management skills
  • Experience working with external business partners
  • Great track record, exceptional results
  • Experience working in our client’s industry (online poker/online gaming) is an advantage

Formal Requirements

  • University degree (preferably in Business or Marketing) is an asset
  • Fluent in English
