Application Maintenance / QA
The Role
Initially perform maintenance and QA on a suite of evolving applications, eventually aiding in the migration to a platform better suited to our business goals.
Team Fit
You'll be part of a small team under the guidance of a senior developer, reporting directly to Business Unit Director. Your input is greatly valued, in this dynamic and tight knit team, and you'll be directly involved in enhancements and features. This role is not for the faint of heart, this is a junior level opportunity that leads to exciting challenges and cutting edge technology for the one willing to work for it.
Immediate & Long Term Goals / Tasks / Projects
Immediate (Within 1st week):
- Learn the essentials of VB6 and support the application whenever it breaks under the guidance of the senior programmer.
Long Term (2-3 weeks and beyond):
- Learn VB6 to intermediate expertise; take initiative to maintain it with suggestions from support and the Business Unit Director. Support senior programmer in the new direction of the application.
Technical Fit (in order of priority):
- Jr. application development experience
- Intermediate debugging / code-maintenance experience
- Visual Studio
Nice to haves:
- Experience with VB syntax (i.e. VB6, VBA, COM, VB.Net, etc.)
- QA/Testing
- General poker knowledge a strong asset. Familiarity with online poker is even better.
- Bug tracking software (i.e. Mantis)
- Version control software (i.e. Subversion)
- OCR Knowledge

Recent grad of post Secondary Computing Science institution or demonstrated experience with OOD/OOP

Rewards

Salary will be commensurate with experience and will be enhanced by performance-based incentives.
